Barcelona, 23 March 2004 - VideoIngest,
a high-performance digital video cataloguer
based on the state-of-the-art computer vision
technology of Visual Century, will be in
use during the Universal Forum of Cultures
Barcelona 2004. VideoIngest, which is embedded
into the Digition system developed by the
Corporació Catalana de Ràdio
I Televisió (CCRTV), will capture,
automatically analyze and catalog the audiovisual
content generated throughout the event,
a festive journey focusing on cultural diversity,
sustainable development and conditions for
peace that will take place in Barcelona
between May and September 2004.
The Digition project is a result of the
recently signed contract between Barcelona
Forum 2004 and the CCRTV. Under this agreement,
all audiovisual contents generated during
the Forum will be digitally managed and
archived using the Digition system, which
incorporates several VideoIngest units to
carry out the ingest process. It is estimated
that the Forum will approximately use 2.000
archive hours out of the 100.000 that the
archive offers. The Digition solution is
already in place at Televisió de
Catalunya, the news channel 3/24, the National
Film Archive and the Catalonia Parliament.
