Barcelona, 27 March 2003 - Visual Century,
a technology company based in Barcelona,
has launched the new version of VideoIngest,
a video cataloguing software for broadcast
environments which is five times faster
than real-time video indexing applications.
VideoIngest automatically detects camera
shots, creates a storyboard with representative
images of these changes and detects video
characteristics that may be of interest
for annotators and subsequent users. In
television environments, video cataloguers
are synchronized with digitization processes
to obtain data and image catalogues to enable
the access of users to any point in the
video without having to watch the whole
document first.
VideoIngest version 2.0 incorporates new
features that make it especially powerful.
It can analyze video files faster that the
video itself – a 50 minute MPEG1 file
in just 10 minutes, limited only by the
speed of the CPU. This makes it especially
useful when digitizing and analyzing video
archives. Other important features of VieoIngest
2.0 include the possibility of working indistinctively
with PAL or NTSC standards, a multilingual
user interface, the connectivity with any
database, and the rescaling of video key
frames.
